In the late-night hours of December 22nd, 2024, our beloved Allen Ray Lewis was called to eternal life surrounded by his loving family.
Allen Ray Lewis was born on February 28th, 1952, to the late Joseph N. and Lucille Lewis Sr. and was raised in Richmond City and Hanover County. Allen graduated from Patrick Henry High School. At an early age, Allen Ray joined Trinity Baptist Church in Richmond. Later as a teenager, Allen Ray moved his membership to become a member of First Baptist Church Elmont, when his family relocated to Elmont, Virginia.
Allen who married his long-time friend, was joined in holy matrimony on April 16th, 2001, to his beloved sweetheart Delois Jones. They have celebrated over 22 years of marriage.
Allen Ray was a loving and caring husband, as well as a loving brother, uncle, and caring friend.
Allen loved to work and started out early as a teenager taking his first job at the YMCA in downtown Richmond. Also, while in middle school and high school had the desire to become a tailor, he tailored a suit and a couple of sport jackets that were well made and looked impressive. Allen joined the Navy in 1972 and served for 4 years and transferred to the Naval Reserve as a Medical Assistant. Allen proudly worked for the Defense Supply Center (Bellwood) as a lift operator and material handler for over 45 years, where he made numerous friends whom he continued to stay in contact with over the years. Allen received many awards for outstanding performance and his work dedication. Allen Ray loved going to Maryland and New Jersey and often travelled with his loving wife Lois on many occasions. Allen loved to talk and shared many of his life stories with family, friends, and co-workers.
Allen Ray leaves to cherish his loving wife Lois, sisters Beatrice Mason and Ruth Winston, two brothers Cecil Lewis (Lorie), and Leonard Lewis, one sister-in-law Janet Smith and one brother-in-law Irvin Jones Jr, three deceased siblings Joseph Lewis Jr.(brother), Shirley Lewis (brother) and Barbara Jean Lewis(sister) and a host of many family members and friends that he loved and cared for deeply.
