Betty Ann Anderson Craddock, 96 was residing at the Ashland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ashland Virginia, very quietly and peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 18, 2018
Betty Ann Craddock was born on March 25, 1922 in Montpelier VA. To the late John Anderson and Clara Ann James Anderson. She departed this life on September 18, 2018.
She received her education in Hanover County before moving to Baltimore Maryland at the age of fourteen. Where she graduated from Douglas Evening High School in 1955.
She attended the Y.M.C.A Business College where she received a certificate in Intensive Typewriting/Filing, Audograph and Dictaphone in 1957.
She accepted Christ as her savior, at an early age and was baptized at the Baptist Bethany Church Montpelier, VA. She moved to Baltimore Maryland to live with her brother the late Merle Anderson (“she said she beg her parents to go”) where to joined the Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James R Grant.
Betty was a dedicated member of the Southern Baptist Church she graced her present on numerous committees. She was a life-long member of the Usher Board, oh to see her strut was joy. She was a member of various choirs and enjoy in singing God’s praises. She had a melodious soprano voice and she could be heard singing there’s a bright side somewhere.
She also served as member of the Christian Education Department, Hospitality Committee and served as church clerk. She attended the National Baptist Congress of Christina Education and serval local and state institutes.
She was employed at Lenmar Incorporation in Baltimore Maryland. After retirement, she devoted her time caring for her great-great nieces Ashley and Lauren Melton. and great-great nephew Dennis Heath Jr.
She also attended the Ivy Center sponsored by the fraternity of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. where she received the Dedicated Charter Member Award for nine years of continuous participation.
Auntie loved to travel, especially returning home for during revival season. So, when her health began to fail coming back home to be near her baby sister Evelyn Mines was well received.
She was proceeded in death; her husband of 46 years Jerry Craddock, three brothers Merle, William and Edward. Three sister, Lula and Ann Anderson and Eldora Anderson Wilson. Leaving to cherish her memory; a devoted sister Evelyn Mines of Montpelier VA; a step daughter, Vivian Dennis of Cullen Va.; Eight nieces, Pauline Meekins, Delores Melton. Dorothy McCray, of Baltimore Maryland. Frances Gilmore and Carolyn Miller of Pontiac Michigan. Marzetta Mines, Jacqueline White and Deborah Mines of Montpelier VA. Five nephews; Daniel Nicholas of Pontiac Michigan, David Anderson of Baltimore MD, Walter Mines Jr. Kelvin Mines Sr. and Anthony Mines of Montpelier VA and a host of other nieces and nephews. Five godchildren, Betty James Tyler of Ashland, VA. Cheryl Bradley, Carolyn Elbeck, Glenda Johnson and Pauline Hutchins of Maryland, godson Michael Smith of Radcliff Kentucky. Devoted friends for more than 60 plus years, Ethel Robinson and Margaret Elbeck.
