Obituary

Calvin Luther Robinson of Glen Allen, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born on August 19, 1931, in the "West End" of Richmond, Virginia, Calvin was the sixth of eleven children born to the late Wellington Robinson and Ada Ann Thornton Robinson. He was educated in the Richmond Public School System and proudly graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School in 1950.

After graduation, Calvin began his working life at Peerless Wallpaper Company as a stock boy. In March 1952, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Armed Forces. He served honorably in the Korean War as a member of the Heavy Artillery Section, a duty he carried out with courage and pride.

Upon returning home, Calvin transitioned into a life of service on the home front. He worked in the Maintenance Department for the Pantry Pride grocery chain and later for the Virginia Department of Corrections at the Bon Air Diagnostic Center for Girls. He retired in 1995 after decades of committed and faithful service.

Calvin married LaVerne Trent, and from their union came four beloved children: Michelle, Kevin, Keith, and Derex. He was a pillar of strength and love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Derex D. Robinson, founder of Robinson Removal Service; his parents; five brothers—Howard, Matthew, Wilbur, Douglas, and Royal Robinson; and four sisters—Evelyn Holt, Ruth Green, Michal Adkins, and Juanita Robinson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, LaVerne Robinson of Glen Allen, VA; his children: Michelle Waller (Suffolk, VA), Kevin Robinson and Keith Robinson (Richmond, VA); one sister, Florence Robinson Flournoy of Fort Washington, MD; grandchildren: Juhann Waller (Greensboro, NC), Brittany Waller (Suffolk, VA), Ovell Robinson (Cheldra), Kevell "K.C" Robinson, Kevita Waller, Keilani Robinson, Kenard Pinkston, Cody White, DaShan Ross, and Emani Ross (all of Richmond, VA); great-grandchildren: Ovell Jr., Amiyah, Zaliyah, Oriel Robinson, and Ja'lelle Robinson-Strickland; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Calvin will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strength, and his enduring commitment to serving others. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
