Carl O'Neal Fox Sr. was born on February 2, 1946, to the late James and Margaree Fox. He departed this life on March 15, 2026, at Falls Run Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center after a period of illness.

At an early age, Carl joined Beulah Baptist Church and was educated in the Spotsylvania County Public Schools, attending John J. Wright School. As a child, he loved fishing and spent as much time as he could by the water—sometimes even when he was supposed to be at school.

Carl was a hardworking man who took pride in supporting and providing for his family. Known throughout the county as a skilled backyard mechanic, Carl had a natural talent for working on cars and was often considered one of the best mechanics to ever turn a wrench. Friends, family, and neighbors frequently relied on his knowledge and steady hands to keep their vehicles running. He also enjoyed listening to oldies music and watching Westerns, which brought him great joy throughout his life. Carl was a quiet and private person who preferred smaller gatherings, but when he shared his stories and memories, he had a way of capturing the attention of those around him.

Carl was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He shared over 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Helen Fox, who preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory: four children, Ernest Chew (Evante), Carla Marie Waller (Carter), Lorretta Fox (Maurice Kay), and Carl Fox Jr. (Katelyn); fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever remember and cherish him. His legacy of love, strength, and quiet wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
