Obituary for Carolyn Lamar

On October 6, 2019 God called Carolyn Lamar (affectionately known as Cal) home to rest in His care. Carolyn transitioned at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. She was born in Muscogee County, GA on May 4th, 1961 to Mr. Arthur Earl Lamar and Mrs. Gerthrene Davis Lamar. She is the sixth child of seven siblings. She leaves behind one daughter, Cassie Adele Marshall, affectionately known as “Angel Girl.” She also leaves behind her beloved beagle, Rocket, also known as her “Grand Dog."

Cal graduated from Central High School in 1979 where she was an active member of the Jazz and Marching Band. Cal loved playing tennis and was well known for her two-handed backhand stroke. After high school she attended Georgia Southwestern State University with her cousin and life long best friend Mrs.Cynthia Lamar Epps. After moving to Virginia she would meet her wonderful friend, roommate and caregiver Lynette Warren.

Cal was employed by ADT Systems in Springfield, VA where she met so many of her close friends. She was later employed by the National Industries for the Blind (NIB), which she referred to as a great place with a great mission. She also met and maintained close friendships while employed with NIB.

Cal loved all genres of music and she loved to dance and have a good time. Her laugh was infectious. Her favorite pastime was reading , taking road trips with her daughter, and spending time with her family and friends.
She will be forever missed by her siblings: Marilyn L. Collins (Lucious), Arthur E. Lamar Jr. (Valary), Ulysses Lamar (Rebecca) and Hattie Lamar. Her Nieces and Nephews: Tamia S. Lamar Jones (Avery), Arthur E. Lamar III (Kristal), Kristal C. Lamar, Nicole Lamar Mack (Cameron), Kimberly Lamar, Kenton Lamar (Cha'dese) and Cecily Collins Evans (Tasha), a host of great nieces and nephews and her very special companion Mr.Robert M.Wynn. She is preceded in death by her two loving parents and two of siblings.
