Obituary

Charles Freeman Jr., a resilient and loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend. Peacefully entered the gates of our Lord into eternal rest on March 7th, 2025. Charles Freeman Jr., better known as "Roach Bug, "Gump The Soul," or "King Of The Hill," back in the day, was born on July 7th, 1942, to the late Mrs. Genevieve Quarles Freeman and Mr. Charles Freeman Sr., who raised him to be a hardworking and no-nonsense young gentleman. Charles is also preceded in death by the love of his life, Beatrice A. Burruss, of 38 years, and three sisters: Perline Green (Ruther Glen, Va.), Margo Baxter (Alexandria, Va.), Clara Foote (Fredericksburg, Va.), and one brother, Harry Leroy Freeman (Richmond, Va.). And one sister in law, Irene Freeman.

Charles Junius Freeman Jr. was born and raised in Ruther Glen, VA, and received his education at Union High in Milford, VA. At an early age, he
joined Second Baptist in Ruther Glen, VA. Charles found his work passion in the masonry field with Boschen, Williamsburg Mill, Dunnington Construction, and later retired from Mitchport Builders. He also worked several years at the Meadow Horse Farm in Doswell, VA. Charles devoted his life to loving his family and friends and leaves behind many memories to cherish. Charles Jr. and his devoted wife leave behind twelve children: Carl Freeman (Michelle), Cedric Freeman (Jennifer), Michael Freeman (Daisy), Diane Freeman (Elliot), Shannon Anderson-Hill (Howard), Tonya Freeman, Sonya Freeman, and Charlette Freeman. Charles also helped raise children that he accepted as his own and loved dearly: Sabrina Burruss, Francina Burruss, Regina Burruss, Zes Johnson, Robert Henry, and Ronald Brown. Charles had 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. A grandchild and best friend who had a remarkable love for him, Devonte Freeman (who called him Papa). If Papa weren't walking a mile each day, you would catch him riding in his nice Dodge Ram with his sons or visiting his dear son Michael.

Charles Freeman Jr. is survived by his brother Sylvester Freeman of Ruther Glen, VA, and his five sisters: Delores Smithers, Gloria Smith (Alvin), Eva Freeman of Ruther Glen, VA; Rosalee Freeman, and Mary Freeman of Richmond, VA. A host of other relatives and friends, whom he dearly loved.

"His spirit, as bright and bold as the sun, will never fade. Though our time together has ended, his love will forever remain a shining light in
our hearts."
