Obituary

Charmaine Theresa Taylor was born to Leon and Lucy Stevens on March 27, 1952, in Caroline County, Virginia. She gained her wings on August 4, 2025.

Charmaine received Christ later in life and joined the Dale City Christian Church in Woodbridge, VA.

Charmaine received her elementary and secondary education from Alexandria City Public Schools. She later attended George Mason University, where she received her bachelor's degree in early childhood development. She began her career at Walt Whitman Middle School in 1978 and retired in 2013. During her tenure, she mentored and guided all those she encountered, being affectionately known as "Mrs. Taylor, the community mom."

After retirement, Charmaine enjoyed her passion for gardening.  There was not a plant that she could not grow.   She loved taking strolls and watching her shows.  She also cherished moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being a mother to her children and Nana to her grandchildren.

Charmaine was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Lucy Stevens, best friend Rosa Medley, and sister-in-law Mayde Brooks.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children, Sharon Alexander (Darryl), Raymond Taylor, Grady Taylor (Antionette), Renee Thomas (Kenneth), and bonus daughter, Ashley Cobbs. Twelve grandchildren: Jared Bryant, Domonique Gordon, Shadarra Alexander, Antwan Taylor, Keilon Taylor, Elijah Thomas, Destiny Foster, Jaidah Dickens, Juhniyah Taylor, Trinity Taylor, Demaurise Cheek, and Shaun Benton, and eight great-grandchildren.  Two sisters, Darlene Nichols, Melisa Stevens, and her brother Leon Stevens. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her ex-husband, Grady Taylor, and two life-long friends, Steven Moultrie and Paulette Taylor, along with a niece that held a special place in her heart, Lisa Washington (Greg); three uncles, Andrew Chandler, James Chandler, and Walter Chandler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
