Cynthia D.
Smith
Jun 11, 1962 — Dec 18, 2025
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7
Cynthia Diane Smith, affectionately known as Cindy, was born Monday, June 11, 1962, in Richmond, Virginia. She was the sixth of nine children born to Martha Ann "Sis" Lewis and James Thomas "Shorty" Wilson, Sr.
She received her education from Hanover County Schools.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to her first true love, Cecil Lamont Smith. United first through their work at the Government Center and married for forty faithful years, they carried that enduring love with them to Saint Christopher's Private School, serving together with the same devotion that defined their life and marriage. Cindy loved her job and everything about it. After 30 beautiful years, she retired due to her declining health.
Cindy and Lamont were blessed with three beautiful daughters—each carrying her fire. Cory, the one that is boldly outspoken and fiercely expressive. Meka, the one that takes no nonsense and stands ready to protect when needed and Celia, the youngest, soft-spoken with a clever spark that never misses a thing.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and James, her siblings, William (Jackpot) James (Bum), Mitchell, Angela; her second oldest grandson, Justin; and two brothers-in-law, Mitchell and Lloyd.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Lamont; her daughters, Cory (Sheldon), Tameka (Raymond), and Cecilia; four grandchildren, Daquane, Sean, Brian, and Cornelius; two great granddaughters, Londyn and baby Celeste; Seven sisters, Blanche, Charlene, Marcia (Pierre), Corine (Linwood), Bertha, Kalinda (James) and Doreen; one brother, James, Jr (Anne); two sisters-in-law, Mary and Linda; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Your long road traveled has come to an end, no more worries and no more troubles. Peace at last! Your life is a beautiful memory, your absence a silent grief; you now sleep in Gods lovely garden in the sunshine of perfect peace.
