Obituary for Deacon James E. Hooker

James Ellsworth Hooker, born to the late James E. Hooker and Lavinia Winston Hooker on November 24,1930 passed from labor to reward on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at his home in Glen Allen, Va.

He attended Hanover County Public Schools. He served In the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the County of Henrico for several years. He then worked for Richfood Dairy for over 25 years where he retired.

He received Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined the Abner Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Trustee, Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School and Sexton.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 14 years, Shirley J. Hooker; seven children from his union to the late Dorothy H. Hooker; James N. (Priscilla), Pamela (Larry) Anderson, Valerie (Thomas) Whitfield, Danita (Gilbert) James, David E. (Mattie), Kimberly (Javan) Blackston and Tracie M., 5 step children; Donald, Raymonde, Ray Jung, Sherrie (Keith) Brown and Terry Jung; one sister-in-law, LaVern Forsythe, 31 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, devoted Dea. Earl G. Winston, Sr, and Dea. John (Benny) Jones.
