Obituary for Dolores Johnson Snead

Delores Johnson Snead was born in Caroline County to the late Billy and Hannah Washington and entered this world on March 9, 1935. She was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Shirley Page, four brothers and three sisters. Like many others in her family determined to make a better life, she moved to reside in New York City. After moving back to Caroline, she rededicated her life and membership at the First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully.

Delores was employed by South Shore High School as custodian where she retired with many years of faithful and loyal service.

Throughout her life she was known for her down to earth personality where she was able to relate to all she came in contact with. She had a warm and willing smile for everyone.

Delores loved to travel. She was always on a plane or in a car visiting other states. She would have family and friends with her. She was a woman who loved to look good. She dressed the part. Her make-up was flawless. She would always tell her nieces to “put your lipstick on; don’t go out of the house without it”. She was a avail shopper, leaving early and returning late. One of her passion was for dancing and eating out. She was a participating member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed every outing she went on with them wearing her red hat and a purple outfit.

Delores leaves to cherish her memory, one devoted granddaughter, Tammy Paige of New Jersey, one brother Willie Washington of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Maureen Strauss (Lloyd) of Dawn, Virginia and Mary James of Washington, D.C., host of nieces; two devoted, Alissa Anderson and Mechonda Trent; devoted nephews, David Lindsey and Jiavon Sturdivant; other relatives and many friends; one best friend, Bert Nichols.
