Doris M.
Fells
Feb 2, 1944 — Aug 15, 2026
Beaverdam
After eighty-two beautiful years of love and cherished memories, our beloved Doris Marie Fells answered God's call and peacefully transitioned, in her home with family, on August 15, 2026.
Doris was born on February 2, 1944 to the late Roy and Dorothy Ford, Sr. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and cherished friend. Throughout her eighty-two years, she touched the lives of many with her strength, wisdom and unconditional love. Doris was also known for her kind heart, generous spirit, beautiful smile, distinct laugh and strong personality. She had a way of making those around her feel loved and welcomed. Her presence brought comfort, laughter and warmth to her family and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Doris attended Saint James Baptist Church in Beaverdam, VA, where she accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She loved the Lord and attended church regularly until her health declined.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory, her dedicated husband, Frank Alvin Fells; her devoted children, Jacqueline Denise Ford-Sutton, Anthony Eric Ford (Veronica), Frederick O'Neil Terrell, Sr. (Eunica), and step-son, Stacey Howard. Beyond raising her own children, she opened her heart and home to many. Doris was blessed to have thirty grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her loving siblings, James Ford, Patricia Dabney (David), Carolyn Ford, Theresa Ancarrow (William); sisters-in-law, Regina, Susan, Gail, Vanessa, nineteen additional brothers and sisters in love; one aunt, Betty Martin; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, other relatives, and countless friends, including her good friends, Susie Hicks, Faye Hunter and Catherine (Sis) Mills, who loved her dearly.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Dorothy Ford, Sr.; brothers, Roy Ford, Jr., Hampton Ford, Sr., Steve Ford, Ernest Ford Sr.; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Nannie; and father-in-law, James Elmore Paige; two close aunts, Catherine Nelson and Thelma Thomas; two close uncles, Charles Terrell and Joseph Terrell; and many others whom she loved.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her love, lessons, laughter, and memories will live on through every life she touched. Her legacy will continue through her family and all those who were blessed to know her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
