Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Florine "Duck" Hill Thompson
September 29, 1945 to December 16, 2025

Florine Hill Thompson, affectionately known to all as "Duck," completed her earthly journey on December 16, 2025, at VCU Health Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. At 80 years old, she left this world just as she lived in it - gracefully, faithfully, and surrounded by love.

Born on September 29, 1945, in Hanover, Virginia, Florine was the second youngest daughter of the late Kermit and Odell Hill. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Thompson, her beloved daughter, Andrea Lambert, Son-in-law Herbert Lambert, Grandson-in-law Delantel Plummer, and her great grandson, Ty'Von Lambert.

She now reunites in eternal rest with her siblings Louise Lewis, Bessie Price, Emma Green, Elsie Fleming, Irma Wills, Lloyd, Leroy, Kermit, Hermon, Roye Sr., George, Howard Sr., Myrtle and Easter Hill.

Florine married George Thompson on Valentine's Day in 1965 and was a devoted wife and mother to Claude, James, and Andrea Thompson.

Florine gave back to her community by working election polls, feeding the homeless, and serving with churches and shelters across Richmond. In her younger years, she enjoyed sports, playing softball with a USPS team and later staying active in her bowling league. She was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church in King William, VA at an early age. Her faith remained central to her life as a devoted member of Mosby Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond, VA and later Woodville Church of the Nazarene in Richmond, VA.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Claude Thompson; grandchildren Jamisha Turner Anderson (Jamarle), Jaquetta Plummer, Nyesha Turner Hewitt (Corey), Turquoise White (Jermaine), Devon Lambert, and Shevon Lambert; Her grandchildren include Corey Hewitt Jr., Jamarle Anderson Jr., Gia White, CorNya Turner Hewitt, Jayden Anderson, Shakima Hawkins Turner, Al Latheef Jones, Oasian White, Jordan Anderson, Devon Lambert Jr., Quevon Lambert, Octavian Lambert, and Dream Williams, and great-great granddaughter, Kori Hewitt; two sisters-in-law, Fannie and Joyce Hill. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Harold Judd and Carolyn Ijames, and friends (devoted Alma Winston,  Joyce Pryor and Wanda Winston).

She lived with strength, prayed with purpose, and loved without condition.
