Obituary

Frederick Rodriques Harris Sr. was born in Hanover County, Virginia on August 28, 1964, to the late Fred Myles and Gladys Harris. He matriculated through the Hanover County public school system.

Following school, Fred worked various jobs. He was a hard worker who started working at an early age. Throughout his working years, the people he worked for often became more than just bosses — they became part of his extended family. He started working with JH Refuse & Lawn Service and later went on to work for Lawn Pretty.
Fred was truly a jack of all trades. If something needed to be done, Fred could probably do it or at least convince you that he could!

Family members would hire him to paint their houses, wash their cars, or take care of their lawns. And if you were lucky enough to pay him in advance, you might still be waiting for him to finish the job! Those moments may have frustrated us at the time, but today they are the memories that make us smile and remind us just how uniquely Fred was.

Fred was a one-of-a-kind person who could never be forgotten. He had a loving spirit and a heart for people, although he could also be demanding at times, and as his family would say, he definitely had a way of doing things his own way.

Fred loved playing softball and proudly played the outfield On the field, he was known as "Hank." He loved the game, but he loved giving everyone a hard time even more. Fred especially enjoyed antagonizing the children in the family. He could take them through hell and back, but somehow, they always loved him for it. That was just Fred — he knew how to get under your skin, make you laugh, and leave you with a story to tell.

Frederick gave his life over to Christ at an early age, at the Bethany Baptist Church in Montpelier, VA. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He Leaves to Cherish His Memory: His loving mother, Gladys Harris; four siblings, Roger Harris (Lisa, Craig Harris (Cindy), Agatha Brower, and Jane Wood; Four sons, Quentin Waddy, Frederick Harris Jr., Sherrod Hunter, Brandon Harris; nine grandchildren, Quentin Waddy Jr., Kyng. Jason & Riley Waddy, Naomi Latney, J'Luan Harris, Nia Lightfoot, Jah Briah Watkins, and Londyn Hunter; a loving companion or as he would say (His ride or Die), Elvira Fleming; two devoted nephews, Edmond Green and Michael Wood; a devoted niece, Felecia Brower: two devoted cousins, Martina Winston & Tracey Brown; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Myles; his grandparents, Wilton and Mozel Harris; his beloved niece, Brittany Harris; uncles, Melvin Harris, John Harris & Leonard Harris;  aunts, Elaine Wattie and Annette Morris
