Herman James Jr. departed this life on August 3, 2025. He was born August 21, 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents Eveleen and Herman James and his brother Jermaine James.

Herman was affectionally know as "Peterman". He attended Hanover County Public Schools . Peterman joined the Bethany Baptist Church at an early age. He was employed by Steve and Sons where he was a faithfully worker.

Peterman was loved by many and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and watching baseball . He was a die hard Cowboys fan. Peterman was the life of the party . He will greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his most fond memories his wife Denise Boatwright; children, Herman James III and Hermeica Boatwright; stepchildren Shanice Boatwright and Janice B. Williams (Antwan); seven grandchildren Antwan, Trell, Ari'Yanna, Tre'Shawn, Kasie, Kashmir, Ceriah;  two devoted sisters Shirley Chambers and Virginia James; two brothers  Christopher James and Allen James (Wanda); three devoted sisters and laws Shirley Boatwright, Shelia Boatwright and Michelle Boatwright. A host of  nieces, nephews and other relatives; devoted friends, Edward James, Warner Boatwright, John Wade, Jesse Hobson, Lonnie Athey and Samantha Burton.
