It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herman Monroe Green, who went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2025. He was 85 years old. Herman was born on March 21, 1939, in Montpellier, Virginia, to the late William Henry Green and Rosa Lee Green.
Herman gave his life to Christ and became a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he served in numerous capacities. He was a founding member of the Men's Chorus, a member of the Usher Ministry, a youth leader for the Youth Usher, and the Chairman of the Trustees. His faith and service to God and his church were cornerstones of his life. He also mentored many young men throughout the community, offering guidance, support and leadership to those who were fortunate enough to know him. In addition to his church involvement, Herman was proud to serve as the Scout Master to the first African American Boy Scout Troop in Montpelier, where he guided and inspired many young boys. His commitment to helping others reach their potential was evident in all he did.
Herman was proceeded in death by his daughters Shirley Cash and Andrae Taylor. As well as his cherished memories with his grandson Antoine Green. He leaves to cherish his devoted wife Jeanette Delores Green Herman was a loving husband to his devoted wife of 69 years Jeanette Delores Green. He also leaves behind his daughters Foronda Green-George (Rickie), Beverly Green, Sharon Wilson and Jacqueline Manley. He leaves behind grandchildren Antionette, Erin, Anthony, Corey, Stephone, Ashley, DeAndrae, Koraun, Keishaun, Donelle. Great-grandchildren Khailil, Sierra, Teran, Anthony, Cor-Vonte', Keishaun, Courtney, KyMani, Ariana, Roniyah, Jacaria, Koraun Jr., Maraya, LaMiyah, Korynn , Londyn and Paris. One great- great- grandchild Isabella. His devoted sister Shirley White and brother Tony Green (Keiko). A host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Herman's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and he will forever be remembered for the love he shared with those who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a family who will carry forward his memory with pride and gratitude.
