Jackie E
Washington
Jul 28, 1958 — Apr 25, 2025
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'" – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Jackie Washington, Sr
66, of Washington, D.C., entered eternal rest on Friday, April 25, 2025, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Born on July 28, 1958, to the late Nash Bloomfield and June Washington, Jackie was a proud Washingtonian—deeply rooted in his city, his faith, and his family.
Jackie, known affectionately by many as "Jack," lived life out loud. With a laugh you could hear from down the block and a heart big enough for everyone, Jackie made sure the people around him always felt seen, heard, and loved. If his favorite song came on—especially some Go-Go, Funk, R&B, or even a little Rock & Roll—Jackie was the first to bust a move, act a fool, and get the party started. He was the life of every room, and that joy was infectious.
A self-proclaimed big kid at heart, Jackie had a lifelong love for DC and Marvel comic books, cartoons, and movies. He proudly passed down those passions to his sons, Jackie Jr. and Bryan. Whether it was a family trip to the arcade, renting movies from Blockbuster, or catching the latest Star Wars or Marvel film at the Uptown Theater, Jackie made everyday moments feel like magic. Jackie and his sons would faithfully attend every DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and Star Wars Movie on opening weekend.
Like Jackie Jr. and Bryan, Jackie Sr. also loved being behind a camera. With a camcorder in hand, he captured birthdays, holidays, and quiet family moments, knowing that one day, those memories would become treasures. But no matter what he was doing, he often did it while singing. Whether humming an old-school jam or belting out a gospel tune, Jackie stayed in a state of praise.
More than anything, Jackie was a servant. Guided by his deep Christian faith, he poured himself into his community, volunteering at local food banks and shelters like Martha's Table, the Salvation Army, and S.O.M.E. (So Others Might Eat). Every Christmas, he turned into a real-life Santa Claus, collecting toys and delivering joy to families in need, decked out in a red Santa hat and his favorite Washington Redskins gear.
Jackie's legacy is one of laughter, love, service, and song. He is survived by his dear friend and the mother of his sons, Kathy Washington; his sons Jackie Washington Jr. and Bryan Washington; his daughter-in-law Paris Washington; his siblings Joyce Seals, George Jr., Jean, Thomas, Jill Thomas, and Paul; his Aunt Fay, Uncles Caldwell and William, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Jackie was a radiant soul—not perfect but perfectly loved by God. Though he has laid down his earthly burdens, his spirit lives on in every beat, every laugh, every song. Heaven is just a little bit louder now.
