In Loving Memory of James William Dickerson III
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of our loved one, James William Dickerson III, who peacefully entered eternal rest on August 6, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on October 2, 1951, in Hanover, Va., James was a person whose presence brought love, laughter, strength, and unforgettable memories to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
James lived life in his own special way. He was known for playing cards, cooking, vibing out to music, and caring for his family. To family and friends, James was not simply a loved one—he was a source of comfort, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.
Those Who Welcomed James Home
James William Dickerson III was preceded in death by his parents, James William Dickerson Jr. and Cleo Howard Dickerson, and one brother, Gilbert Franklin Howard. While those losses left an empty place in James's heart, we find comfort believing that he has now been reunited with those who went before him.
Those Left to Cherish the Memories
James William Dickerson III leaves to cherish his memory: three sons, James Woodfin, Trae Dickerson, and Jamell Dickerson.
For more than 26 years, James shared a beautiful journey with Mable Ross, his devoted life partner. Their years together created a lifetime of memories, love, friendship, and a bond that will forever remain a treasured part of James's legacy.
His siblings, Horace Dickerson (Regina), Michael Dickerson, George Dickerson (Iantha), and a beloved sister, Edythe Lewis.
His grandchildren, Jasmyne and Vaunte Warrick, J'Mesha Woodfin, James Woodfin Jr., and Dominick Dickerson, and one great-granddaughter, Karter Warrick.
James also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephew's, and other extended family members, lifelong friends, and loved ones.
Each person who knew James carries a different memory, but together, those memories tell the beautiful story of a life that mattered.
James William Dickerson III may have taken his final breath, but his love did not leave with him. It remains in every heart he touched, every lesson he taught, every laugh he shared, and every memory that will be carried forward.
Rest peacefully until we meet again.
