"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1
A TIME TO BE BORN
John Martin Sharpe known to most as Johnny was born on Easter Sunday April 14, 1963 in Richmond, Virginia. He was the sixth of six children born to Lenwood Carey Sharpe, Sr. and Martha Magdalene "Lene" Sharpe.
A TIME TO DIE
On the evening of July 14, 2026 while at the Parham location of Henrico Doctors Hospital, Johnny went to rest in peace with his family who went there before him. His dad, Lenwood, Mom, Lene, Brother Wayne, Sister Linda, Nephews Charlie and Timmy, and many more relatives and friends.
THE LIFE HE BUILT
Johnny grew up with his five siblings on Hanover Lane in Glen Allen Virginia. It was at Hunton Baptist Church that he was saved at a young age. He was always destined to be the master auto mechanic that he grew into. From a very young age he and his brother Wayne could be found working on cars with their dad. A passion he never outgrew. As a teenager he and a good friend renamed the dirt road that he lived on to Camaro Lane, even though he left this life as a diehard Ford fan. Although most could not see the beauty, he once told his mom that the old autos that were sprinkled all over his land were like flowers to him and it made him happy just to look out and see them. For much of his life he worked as a mechanic at Old Dominion Mustang in Ashland, Virginia, which was like a second home to him. Johnny had a great passion for cars but he had a greater passion and pride for his children and grandchildren. He raised Lisha, April and JJ as a single father. Although he did get help along the way, he was the one who was always there. Johnny was so very proud of them. He approached life as a son, father, grandfather, brother and friend with an extreme sense of humor and had his own unique way of looking at every situation. To him everything had an extreme value and he had a hard time parting with any of it. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
