Lakisha Ann
Adams
Dec 4, 1975 — Feb 13, 2026
On Friday, February 13, 2026, God saw fit to call Lakisha Ann Adams to her final resting place after her long and courageous battle with cancer. A place where she no longer suffers and is free from pain. Lakisha was born in Richmond, VA on December 4, 1975 to James Waller and Annie Hoover. She was raised by her father and paternal grandmother Bernice Waller.
Lakisha was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church in Beaverdam, VA. Later she became a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Doswell, VA under the Pastoral care of Reverend William Archer. She would attend regularly until her health began to fail. Lakisha loved her church and church family, oftentimes sharing how blessed she was to be surrounded by loving, faith-filled people. Her deep faith shaped her values and was reflected in how lovingly she treated others.
After graduating from Patrick Henry High School in Hanover, VA, Lakisha joined the United States Air Force where she served 24 honorable years. Her military career was filled with a number of accolades and awards to include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Joint Service Achievement Medal just to name a few. The U.S. Air Force afforded her so many wonderful experiences and memories.
While serving in the United States Air Force, Lakisha married Tyrone Adams Bey. They shared 18 meaningful and foundational years together and were blessed with sons who continue a lasting legacy of their union.
After retiring from the Air Force in 2019, Lakisha continued to serve as a government contractor and ultimately segued into a civil service role in 2023 for the Department of the Army. Serving as the Senior Executive Assistant to the SES (Major General equivalent) and 1-Star General at the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response (CHMR) office (formerly the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence) she provided exceptional strategic administrative support and expertly facilitated high-level operations.
Lakisha gracefully balanced her distinguished career with her most critical role of motherhood. She showered her beloved sons, Tyrone Jr. (JR) and Tyvon with love. Lakisha truly enjoyed one of her favorite pastimes of watching gameshows like Family Feud with JR and often bragged about Tyvon (aka the next Gordon Ramsay) being "the best cook", sharing details of the delicious meals he would make for them to enjoy. What truly distinguished the Adams as a family is their customary "Love you, be careful" preceding every departure and when their phone conversations end.
Known to many as "Kisha" and to some as simply "Ki", Lakisha never met a stranger. She had a gentle presence about her and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She loved to spend time with those she treasured dearly. She looked forward to being amongst family and friends. Whether it was shopping, dining out, dancing, attending events or traveling, Lakisha was always ready for a good time.
Lakisha was a beautiful soul and to know her was to love her. She had the most amazing spirit and her family and friends could truly depend on her for unconditional love and support.
Lakisha Ann leaves to cherish her beautiful memory two sons, Tyrone Adams Jr. and Tyvon Adams of Spotsylvania, VA; parents, James Waller (Beatrice) of Ruther Glen, VA and Annie Hoover of King George, VA; sister, Brandi Hoover of Fredericksburg, VA; niece Jasemine Tate and nephew Daivon Beverly; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
