Lillie Mae
Robertson
Jul 13, 1930 — Sep 15, 2025
Bumpass
Lillie Mae Robertson went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2025. She was born on July 13, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Hyslie Taylor and the late Maria Taylor. Lillie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry Roberton Sr and two brothers, Hyslie and Frank.
As a child, Lillie Mae attended Philadelphia Public Schools, eventually graduating from her beloved Germantown High. In September 1944, Lillie Mae accepted Christ as her savior under the leadership of Reverend Adolphus Hobbs and was baptised at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. As a member, she sang in the youth choir and participated in BYPU, a Bible program created for the church's youth. As a young adult, Lillie Mae came to Virginia to live with her grandparents. With her, she brought a letter from Enon to join Shady Grove Baptist Church. At Shady Grove, she attended Sunday school regularly and became a member of the Gospel Chorus.
Eventually the desire to be with her husband and children brought Lillie Mae to Mount Zion Baptist Church. She became a member of the church in 1966 under the leadership of Reverend E. L. Flemming. She quickly began to serve on many different ministries and committees. She joined the usher board, the hospitality committee and the Gospel Chorus. She also served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. In 1971, Lille Mae was consecrated as a deaconess under the leadership of Reverend Raymond Johnson. As a deaconess she served faithfully and diligently for over 48 years.
On October 24, 1953, Lillie Mae and Henry Robertson Sr. were joined together in holy matrimony. To this union five children were born. Her children, grandchildren and extended family meant the world to her and nothing made her happier than having her family over for Sunday dinners. Lille Mae was an excellent cook and her cakes, pies and homemade rolls were in high demand. She was also a gifted artist and seamstress, able to draw anything from memory. Lilie Mae utilized these skills at Louisa Manufacturing where she was employed.
Lille Mae leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Henry Jr. (Pamela), Howard (Helena) and Orlando; two daughters Evelyn (Jeff), Gwen (John); 11 grandchildren, Joseph, Antoine, Henry III, Tangelia, Cherrell, Jefferson IV, Amber, Timothy, Lawrence, Tyrone, and Teresa; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eva Robertson and Carrie Taylor; devoted nieces; devoted friends Lillian Morris and Della Nelson; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
