Obituary

Mozelle "Liz" Keys, born on October 11, 1944, in Beaverdam, Virginia, peacefully transitioned after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Surrounded by the love of her family, Liz went on to be with the Lord at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The beloved daughter of the late Alice C. Mason and James E. Mason, Liz spent her childhood in Beaverdam, Virginia, where she attended Hanover County Public Schools. From an early age, she embraced her faith, accepting Christ as her personal Savior and joining the choir at Union Baptist Church. Her spiritual journey was a testament to her unwavering faith and devotion to her community.

Liz was preceded in death by her cherished parents, James and Alice Mason; her beloved husband, William Ernest Keys Sr.; and her four beautiful sisters, Helen, Gloria, Shirley, and Lillian. Liz's memories remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A devoted mother, Liz leaves behind six children: her daughters, Joanne Harris, Alice Williams (Walter Williams Sr.) of Florida, Ernestine Pollard (James Pollard Jr.), and Polly Scott, all residing in Fredericksburg, Virginia; and her sons, William Ernest Keys Jr. and David Keys, also of Spotsylvania. Her brother, Berdell Mason, of Montpelier Station, Virginia. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, 24 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Her lifelong friends, Alicia Jones and Barbara "Baby Sis" Scott, along with numerous other family members and friends, will forever hold her memory dear.

Liz dedicated her professional life to her work as a cook in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and nourishment, not just for the body but for the soul.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Your prayers, cards, flowers, visits, and kind gestures have been a source of comfort and strength. May God bless and keep you all.
