Pearl Brown Minor, also known as Tootsie, entered into Eternal Rest on Dec 24, 2025. She was the daughter of the late John H Brown and the late Lottie Taylor Brown.
Pearl graduated from Union High in 1963 and attended J Sargent Reynolds College for a while. She married Alfonso W Minor, Sr and they moved to Boston Mass. While there, she attended O.I.C., a training school started by Rev Leon Sullivan for African Americans. After graduation, Pearl got a job at State Street Bank in Quincy, Mass. and worked there until they relocated back to Virginia. She then got a job at Best Products in Ashland and worked there as a Receiving Clerk for 21 years until they closed. She then got a job at Value City Furniture in Ruther Glen as a Receiving Coordinator and worked there until she retired.
Pearl grew up as a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church. After moving back to Virginia, she joined St John Baptist Church to be with her husband and children.
Beside her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Alfonso W Minor, Sr. her precious grandson, Justin, her siblings: Beatrice Burruss, Shirley Young, John H Brown, Jr and Curnel Brown.
She is survived by two loving sons, Alfonzo Jr (Angela T), Kevin (Angela R), her grandchildren, Evan and Kristen and a great grandson, Owen, two sisters Betty Brown and Gloria Samuels, her brother-in-law Fred Minor (LaVarro), a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, one devoted, Ronald Brown, and a numerous amount of friends. To name a few, Mary Carter, Christine Fells and Alto Wills. She also had a few loving neighbors that were there for her after the passing of her husband, Christine Peasant, Gwen Pleasant Green and Gloria J. Abrams. She also made a new friend and walking buddy when she moved to Ashland, Margaret Snyder.
