Obituary

With hearts heavy in grief yet overflowing with love, we celebrate the life of Ronald Lee Banks, who entered eternal rest on Monday, July 6, 2026, in Richmond, Virginia.

Ronald was born on December 22, 1964 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Jessie and Margaret Banks. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James "Lee Boy" Banks.

A proud graduate of John Marshall High School's Class of 1983, Ronald enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved cooking, gardening, taking long walks, riding his favorite red bicycle, and fixing things around the house—even when they weren't broken. Known affectionately as "Dicky," he was a quiet and reserved man, but his family always knew how to bring him out of his shell. His gentle sense of humor, playful jokes, and lovable stubbornness brought laughter and light to those around him.

Although Dicky never had children of his own, he was deeply loved and richly blessed with a family who cherished him. He leaves his precious memories to his sisters, Sandra Banks, Jessie McClaine, Kathy Harris; twin sister, Rosalind Banks-Gibson. His brother in-laws William Gibson and James Payne. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, who affectionately knew him as "Uncle Bud", Tiffany (Yefrin), Javan "Teddi", Markeesha "Sissy" (Grevil), Shannon, Deondra "DeeDee", Josalind "Jolly" (Gregory), Cierra "CeeCee", Jay, Chaquetta, Kevin, Jerard, and Jordan. He also leaves behind his beloved great-nieces and great-nephews: Kavontae, Devonte, Yasmin, Jesse, Aniyah, Damian, Akira, Julius, Chelsea, Ayana, Kamaria, Quade, Alakai, Jamonte, O'Niyah, Sharlett. Aunts, Irene Morris, Blanche Jones, Marcia Washington, Emily Baylor, Elaine Mines. Uncles, George and Ernest Rollins.

Although Dicky has departed from his earthly journey, we find comfort in knowing that he is at peace in the loving presence of the Lord. His memory will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the family who loved him so dearly.
