Shannun Lamar Nolan, affectionately known as Smoke, was born on February 29, 1984 to Rogerlin A. Turner (Nolan) and Anthony Cyler.
Shannun attended Henrico County Public Schools. He later earned his GED, demonstrating his perseverance, determination and commitment to his personal growth.
Shannun loved to cook. He held jobs at well-known restaurants including Mama J's, Croaker's Spot and Solaire Rooftop Bar & Lounge to name a few.
Shannun loved children and children loved Shannun. When he interacted with children, they were drawn to him and they listened to him. He taught them to respect their mothers and to do as they were told. In the children's eyes, Shannun could do no wrong.
On Friday, January 30, 2026, Shannun took his flight home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roger N. Nolan and his maternal uncle, Norman L. Nolan, Sr.
Shannun leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Rogerlin A. Turner and Anthony Cyler; Step-father, James A. Turner, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Sylvia W. Nolan; Brother, Eduardo A. Surita; Sister, Jacara I. Turner; Aunt, Elder Cecelia C. Smith; Great-uncles and aunts, Theodore White, Jr. (Patricia) and John Nolan, Sr. (Lizzie) and a host of cousins and friends. Shannun also shared a brotherhood bond with his friends, Q and Chuck, as well as a bond with his close friend, Sylvia Howie, who was like a sister to him.
