Ursell Henderson slipped away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at 7:34 p.m. in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her daughter, Jennifer, and her brother, Michael. She was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and wisdom.

Ursell became a member of Bethany Baptist Church at a young age under the leadership of Rev. M.T. Fleming. In August 1983, she rededicated her life to Christ and remained a faithful member of the congregation until her health began to decline. She could often be found on Sundays in the fourth pew on the left-hand side of the church. Throughout her years at Bethany, Ursell was an active member of the Missionary Ministry, Mattaponi Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School.

Ursell had a love for travel, fearlessly embarking on journeys across the world, whether by plane or cruise ship. She took great joy in returning from her travels with souvenirs for her family. Although she was a woman of few words, when Ursell spoke, it was with clarity and purpose. She shared her wealth of knowledge about family history, preserving precious memories for future generations.

Ursell was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmore and Iretha Tyler Henderson; her siblings Ernest Thompson, Virginia Thomas, Willie, Lena, Elise, Lorenzo, and Arnet Henderson; Laverne Carroll; Jerome Henderson; and her granddaughter, Amanda (Emma) McGruder.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jennifer Henderson; her siblings Mary Carroll, Tom (Diane) Henderson, Barbara (Andrew) Banks, Shirley Anderson, Michael Henderson, and David Carroll; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
