Virginia Mae Gregory White, affectionately known as "Cookie, Ginger, Granny and Big Mama" was born on December 5, 1948 to the late James Edward Gregory, Sr., and Lillian Lena Jackson Gregory. She departed this life peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
Virginia accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Aylett, Virginia. Virginia was joined in Holy matrimony to Ralph Wendell White Sr. for forty-four years. To this union five children were born: Ralph Jr., Karen, Tammy, Petrina, and Corey Sr. Later, she became a member of Greater Nazarene Baptist Church, Macedonia, and Christian Fellowship. She was educated in the King William Public School System. She worked for Kings Dominion, Waffle House, Hardees and Fast- Mart.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed talking on the phone especially to her siblings and close friends. She loved to watch The Stories, Sandford and Son, Good Times, Andy Griffin, Jeopardy, Gunsmoke and many more good shows.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother James Edward Gregory Sr. and Lillian Lena Jackson Gregory. Her husband, Ralph Wendell White Sr.; her children Ralph Wendell White Jr, Tammy Yvette Roy and Petrina Diane White; her sisters, Shirley G. Robinson, Marian G. Williams, Doris G. Johnson, and Patricia G. Wilson; her brothers, James E. Gregory, Jr., Robert L. Gregory, Sr., and Levi M. Gregory.
Virginia leaves cherished memories to her two children; Karen W. Hill (Thomas Sr.) of Aylett, and Corey T. White Sr. (Michelle) of Richmond. Sixteen grandchildren; two devoted grandsons Thomas Jr. (T.J.) and Travon (Huggie), Keon, Isaiah (Leah), Tony, April, Shyheim, Andrew (Lori), Jamal, Jasmine, Taneya, Amos, Samantha, My'Asia, Tamar, and Corey Jr.; and fifteen great grandchildren; brother, Gerald A. Gregory (Joanne) of Glen Allen, Virginia; her sisters, Robin G. Roane (Alvin) of Glen Allen, Virginia; Lillian G. King of Henrico, Virginia; and Easter G. Gaines (Charles, Sr.) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; sister-in-law Sallie W. Fauntleroy; daughter-in-law Angela White and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews; two devoted friends who she loved dearly Darlene Palmer and Nancy Bray.
