William (Big Doc) Spindle, Sr., age 85, departed this life on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Parham Nursing and Rehab Center. Born January 30, 1940, to the Late Dorine Spindle, in Ashland, Virginia He attended the Hanover County Public School System.

He joined in Holy matrimony to Brenda Foster on March 2,1961 and from that union three children were born. William Spindle, Jr. Everette Spindle and Pathenia Fields.

Big Doc worked at Richfood for 37 years until his retirement. He loved to travel, cook, and play  cards. He was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders. He was known as a humble man in the community where he never met a stranger and never judged any individual. If you passed through the doors of 505 Pleasant Street you left feeling better than you did before you arrived. He will truly be missed by the Ashland community. He was preceded in death by his  mother Dorine Spindle, his wife Brenda Spindle and  his daughter Pathenia Fields.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, William Jr., and Everette(Brenda) 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren,  one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, one son-in law. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Two devoted friends Elizabeth Chandler and Janet Straus.
