Obituary for Willie Thomas

WILLIE JAMES THOMAS departed this life on August 15, 2019 at home. He was born April 15, 1939 in Caroline County, to the late Bertie Thomas Smith and stepfather Wesley Smith.

He joined the Jericho Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Caroline County School. He was employed at Quantico Marine Corp. as a chef for over 25 years. After retirement from there he was employed by Henrico County Schools as a custodian for many years.

After full retirement he was employed by Baily’s janitorial service for fourteen years. He was well liked by his co-workers.

Willie was a happy person and was well liked by everyone. He loved life and spending time with family and friends as “Boo”. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend. He experienced great joy in life when cooking and mowing his lawn.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted sister and caregiver, Laverne Smith-Courtney (Eugene Courtney), Mary Sampson, caregiver, Earlene Mines and Helen Thomas(All of Caroline County, Va.). Two aunts, Bertha Redd of Washington, D.C. and Essie Belle Thomas of Caroline County. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. One devoted great nephew, Quavion Harris, one special great, great niece, Chanelle Sampson and one special great, great nephew, Carter Sampson. A Host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Devoted friends, Terrance Bailey, John Simms, James Simms and Charles Simms. Willie, we love you and we’re so thankful for the years we had together with you. We’ll miss you dearly.
